On November 5, 2013, Eddie and Carol Sturman visited the White House to attend an invitation-only event to honor White House Champions of Change.  Regular readers of Sturman News releases may recall that Sturman advocate Michael Bowman was one of those Champions of Change selected in 2012.

The White House Champions of Change Veterans in Clean Energy & Climate Security event was hosted by the White House Council on Environmental Quality and The Truman National Security Project.  The event’s program included opening remarks by Denis McDonough, the White House Chief of Staff and  the keynote by Dr. Ernest Moniz, Secretary of the United States Department of Energy.

Seven of the twelve Champions honored are members of Operation Free – a group of United States military veterans dedicated to American security through clean energy initiatives, which Sturman has provided collaboration and support.

At the evening reception, The Truman Project and Operation Free thanked Sturman Industries and other notable organizations for their many contributions to the furtherance of national security through energy independence.

In his Presidential Proclamation making October 2103 National Energy Action Month, President Barack Obama said, “a clean energy economy has the potential to fuel economic growth for decades to come.  But we must invest in the technologies of the future and fund breakthrough research to make these technologies better and cheaper.  With the American spirit of innovation powering our progress, our Nation can lead the world in creating green jobs and technologies that are vital to both a clean energy future and the fight against climate change.”
