In conjunction with his talk at the World Renewable Energy Forum, Dr. Steven Chu, Secretary of the US Department of Energy, held a private, invitation-only energy roundtable discussion in Denver, CO on May 16, 2012. Dan Arvizu, Director of the National Renewable Energy Laboratory hosted the Roundtable for the Secretary to meet and hear from energy technology leaders. Eddie and Carol Sturman were among the small group of innovators invited to meet with the Secretary.

Carol and Eddie, in dialogue with Secretary Chu, highlighted that by modernizing internal combustion engine controls, the “drop in fuel’ paradigm can and should be changed.

Sturman Digital Hydraulic engine management systems have demonstrated substantial improvement in fuel economy, clean operation and power and torque for use with natural gas, and the same benefits can be realized for all alternative fuels, as well as for conventional fuels.

Carol and Eddie highlighted the significance a self-optimizing open architecture engine will have to enable the use of all types of national and regionally available fuels in an ultra-efficient manner.

Technology leadership, export, energy independence, and economic vitality can be facilitated in a practical manner via modernization of internal combustion engine controls that can continue to use existing infrastructure and widen the potential for domestic fuels of all kinds.
