Announcements and News concerning Sturman Industries

Carbon Free Engine Talk by Eddie Sturman, World Renewable Energy Forum

Posted on 5/13/2012 by SuperUser Account

The World Renewable Energy Forum was held in Denver, Colorado May 13 – 17. The three day event boasts an impressive array of speakers, including Secretary of Energy Steven Chu, Colorado Governor John Hickenlooper, US Senator Michael Bennet, NREL Executive Director Dan Arvizu, as well as esteemed representatives of the US Department of Defense, National Geographic, and Citigroup.

Eddie Sturman’s presentation, “Compression Ignition of 100% Ammonia (NH3) Fuel,” was delivered during the "Running the World on Renewables: Alternatives to Electricity for Transmission, Firming Storage, and Supply Integration for Large-scale, Stranded, Renewable Energy."  Eddie explained that compression ignition of NH3 has been demonstrated at Sturman Industries.

“Flexibility in combustion is the key,” says Sturman.  “A completely non-carbon fuel like NH3 can be made by using air, water and electrolysis.  Air provides Nitrogen, water provides the Hydrogen.”  Sturman technology can help the process, as well as practically combust NH3 in engines for mobile and stationary power.  This is achieved simply by adding Sturman advanced digital hydraulic controls to internal combustion engines.  Sturman Industries demonstrated compression ignition of NH3 in 2012.  Using truly sustainable, renewable sources like wind and solar can make an abundance of carbon free NH3 fuel available.

The only emission in this scenario is water,” Eddie reminded his audience with a grin that belied his own excitement that such a feat is achievable.

Needless to say, Eddie’s presentation was very well received.

The event was sponsored by multiple colleges and universities, regional and national energy and utility companies and in particular, the World Renewable Energy Network, the Colorado Renewable Energy Society, the National Renewable Energy Laboratory and the American Solar Energy Society.  Attendees came from all over the world.
